Came here on a limb. In town for vacation and wanted to find a place to watch the game and eat that wasn't hotel prices. FOUND IT! And being a eagles fan it's pretty much a eagles bar that is owned by a guy that moved to Marco from Philly! Food: my wife and I both ordered the burger. Good taste. What you expect for a decent burger. Didn't like that it came with chips and fries were extra. Who eats chips with a burger anyways? I ordered the fries that were extra. Decent. Service: Fairly quick and friendly. Nothing to complain about. Prices : GREAT for being a resort town. Awesome place. Great food and good service. Definitely worth a shot.

Stopped in Rookies Bar & Grill for lunch on 9/19/2015 , while we were waiting to be able to get into our rental property. The stuffed poblanos (very tasty) & bowl of chili were very good. Better than traditional bar food. We should have just ordered two of each, but we didn't.... My wife ordered the chicken tenders and salad and the I ordered the Mahi Mahi and salad. Both were below par. The chicken was over-cooked and was reminiscent of Tyson chicken you get at Publix and the Mahi Mahi, although good, was a very small portion. A nice bar with excellent wait staff, just remember to order the bar food. You'll be happier.

Stopped in yesterday for dinner ,the bartender cleaned table and served us beer very quick. The problem was trying to get the waitress to acknowledge us, at least 20 minutes went by without any service! We looked up, they where taking some 1 else's order who came in after us.Never had a problem like that before there but none the less they should get more qualified servers.

Stopped in here for a quick bite yesterday afternoon. Margaritas are alright. Service was great. Calamari was pretty good.

All the food seemed microwaveable. The frozen crab cakes at Costco are way better and there was nothing buffalo about the buffalo shrimp. The staff was pretty disengaged too. I seldom leave poor reviews, but this merits it. $50 down the drain!

Had a blast here! Food is amazing and our server was hilarious. I suggest trying their special Cajun sauce on everything it's amazing! Nice selection on draft too! Will be returning

Best sandwiches on the island. BUT is dynamite. Pastrami melt is delicious. Great atmosphere. Friendly service. My friend loves the chicken salad and the chicken Ceasars salad. We stop in at least once or twice a week .

We didn't eat here but stopped in for a couple buckets of beer. Good specials during football games. Even though a football game was not on the owner/manager still gave us the bucket special price. Nice place to have drinks - Will definitely be back to try the food - It looked yummy!

Late evening dinner & drinks. Husband and I both had the grilled chicken sandwich and substituted fries for chips. The sandwich was actually two chicken breasts on a fresh kaiser roll. Delicious!!! Fries might be better with cheese on top or ranch to dip in. Very filling. For being after 9 in a bar setting it was perfect for these two travelers. A bit dim for a family but quick food.

Food was delicious! Service was subpar. It is seat yourself when you walk in. Our waitress only checked on us one time. And we had to wait for 20 minutes after our table was cleared for our server to recognize we needed our check. Other than that, great atmosphere with yummy food!

If I could rate this place zero stars, I would. My experience was that bad. I understand that this is a very local bar for the Marco Islanders but damn, the service was extremely awful. I was with my family for vacation, we had a party of six (and a dog :D) and when I walked in I couldn't find a hostess to help me, when I finally did find a blonde waitress & explained we were a party of six, had a dog so that could we perhaps sit outside she just stood there and told me "yes". Didn't bother to walk me outside, she just pointed at random tables and chairs. Didn't help us put together anything or clean the table tops. She just looked at us occasionally from the inside of the restaurant. And I feel it's so disrespectful because my family is older (father, aunts and uncles, etc) Yes, they can take care of themselves but we left the house to be serviced on a BASIC level. Did not offer us menus, utensils or drinks. Nothing until much later a brunette waitress came out and finally helped us. She was very nice and helpful, I appreciate her amazing customer service but her friend left much distaste. Food is cheap. There's apps, salads, sandwiches (their "specialities") and platters. So come here if you're lazy, don't want to cook and want something a little above fast food. I ordered a Tuna Steak platter. It was overcooked slightly. Not a big fan of tartar sauce but I had to drench it because it was overcooked and too dry. It came with a side of steamed broccoli and cauliflower that looked as if it had been there all week. It was browning on the edges and shriveled-looking. Not the greatest dining experience, but the only reason I would come back is for the cheap alcohol. They have some good deals on tap and drafts. But even that, I feel like I could maybe get AND have a great dining experience somewhere else in Marco.

Just wanted some casual dining and opted for Rookies. Definitely a casual eating/drinking spot. Typical selection of burgers, fish, and drinks. I had the fish and chips. The fish was swai; not my favorite. My wife had some chicken strips. Batter was pretty heavy; a little over done. French fries were top notch, though. I think for the money, we could have done better....

Very slow service. Waitress was nice but one of the staff members was dismissive when we pointed out 45 minutes wait for appetizers to arrive.

It's a Philly Bar - so it was crowded for the Sun night game. Came here from a horrible experience at ODs. Happy to find it. Nice people at the bar. Bartender was quiet but quick. Busy but attentive. Small selection of beer but a good one. Draft beer tasted fresh and clean.

A great place for a meal. Over 20 of us showed up and they were extremely accommodating. Food was tasty and very inexpensive. Not one person was dissatisfied. Will definitely return.

We have been coming to Marco for years and as tradition, my wife and her family eat here the first night. Cold cheap draft beer and fish is always good. However the reason for the 1 star is solely due to the lack of service. The same wait staff has been the past two years and I doubt we'll go back after last night. As someone who was in the service industry, I can sympathize for a ton of different issues that can slow down service but when it comes to complete stupidity.. I have very little tolerance. Very thankful for the other young energetic waitress who helped us after seeing us looking around for 20mins while our waitress stood by the bar having a convo with the bartender.. If you go, expect great food for cheap but unbelievable slow service.

Cheapest place I found on this side of the island for a cold beer. Good place to catch the game. It is to me first hand a bar. No view to speak of but nice tvs in the center of the back bar. Great happy hour specials. Didn't eat but food I saw looked good. Like cold beer. So. 4 stars for me.

The only reason this place got one star from me is because I couldnt give them a negative. I understand you have regulars and you need to take care of them, but that doesn't mean you ignore anyone else that comes in. The staff was basically useless. You had to flag them down, and then they seemed super pissed because they had to take a break from drinking to wait on you. On top of that, the food was horrible. Avoid this place like the plague. Worst drinking/dining experience I've ever had.

  • Kelly B.

This place is horrible. The service is the worst I've ever had. The wait staff is not friendly whatsoever, and it took us 30 minutes to even get someone over to order food (we had to constantly flag them down until we got someone to come to our table). When they finally arrived, they acted annoyed that we actually wanted to order something. I've never seen a server so willingly ignore its patrons. Not to mention the place wasn't busy at all. The staff was standing around drinking and socializing. I highly advise anyone visiting Marco to avoid this establishment. I wish I could give 0 stars.

Seriously????? Worst food ever. Cocktails were fine, no way to mess up Miller Lite. Don't plan on eating here unless you enjoy SAMs club wings and fried oysters. Yuck

We love relaxing at Rookies. Just kick back with great food, easy going atmosphere and wifi to catch all your favorite games and good conversation.

We've been to Rookies a number of times coming down to Marco over the years. The food and atmosphere are ok. The grouper is a winner. Last night, we went, and we had to wait for a long time. Don't know if they were understaffed, but things took longer than we like. Food is usually good. The staff is friendly and it's a decent easy laid back place to go. It helps that they seem to have Philly management!

I was pretty hungry and was looking for a comforting bar environment to grab a late afternoon bite with my hubby. He had the haddock sandwich which was ok...fish flavor was good but the batter on the fish was THICK. It was like -would you like to have some fish with your hoagie and batter.- Our server was hanging out with her girlfriends while occasionally checking on us between smokes and bites of her lunch. My Reuben sandwich (claimed to be one of their specialties) was not good at all. The chips were stale. The Swiss cheese was dried out and then put on the sandwich. The corn beef was so chewy, my jaw hurt. I don't know how this joint gets all the positive reviews but if another couple came in, ordered and left before the food ever made it out, that in itself tells u about the speed of the service. Terrible food and questionable service.

The Chicken Caesar Wrap was great and big enough for two! It was served with chips that were a bit stale but the wrap is what counts. My wife had the grilled chicken sandwich and she said it too was very good. We left full and with a T-shirt. The staff was very nice and we wouldn't hesitate to go back. One thing that was kind of cool here, each table has its own roll of paper towels so if you need more than one napkin, it's there and if you don't need one at all, no wasted paper.

Your typical bar & grill with OK bar food, nothing memorable though, except that it was HOT as hell in the place. I had the Mahi Mahi sandwich, it was OK, the good part was that it did bring a large piece of fish. They had decent happy hour prices, 16oz Stella for $3. Nothing special, more than likely ....won't come back.

We always eat here our 1st night on the island. Really good 'bar food', and entrees too. Happy hour specials are great too. Have tried the blue cheese loaded fries, onion rings, mahi mahi, chicken Caesar wrap, grouper, hot dog. All very good. Good sports bar atmosphere for football too.

We quite literally "stumbled" upon Rookies when the bartender at the Irish place in the same strip mall put us on the pay no mind list. We were staying at the Hilton across the street and needed to find a place to watch football on Saturday, and not only did we find one, we found a Big Ten bar on top of it. The staff was friendly and prompt, the beer was cheap, the food was decent (featuring the largest amount of bacon I've ever seen on a BLT... ever), and it was a good place to hang out that wasn't pretentious or our hotel room over the long weekend. It's a good diversion from the "higher class" joints within walking distance to the hotel.

Our bar tender / waiter was attentive, but the food and beer selection is limited especially if you are a beer lover and like to try new things. At least the beer was served cold which made up for it. The food are pre-made as someone in our group ordered a reuben but asked for the dressing to be left out of the sandwich. The waiter said that couldn't be done as they only oven it and cannot modify any of the sandwiches. We still stayed and ordered, hot wings, reuben sandwich, pastrami sandwich and chicken tenders - typical bar food. The food was decent - not great but ok. One person in our group got a splinter from the wooden napkin holder. This place is a dive bar - acceptable for a quick drink / eat but there's several other places on this island to eat at with a better selection, so pass this up and explore. Try the Sand Bar which I thought was better - also a dive bar but it has more drink / food selections and a larger space.

Reasonable prices, all american classics, great environment to watch sports. The employees are very friendly too.

A great place to watch the game, not such a great place for food. The potato skins did not taste fresh. The cheese bread was decent but I wouldn't recommend this as a place to go if you're in Marco Island. More like a tourist trap! If ya ask me!

My husband had the Prime Rib sandwich and I had the Grouper platter. For the price we thought it was great! I would definitely come here again!

Went in for a few beers and dinner to watch the NBA game. The game wasn't on when we went in, but the owner asked what we were looking for and changed it to the game for us. The service from our waitress in the beginning was lousy, but she got better as the evening progressed. The food came out hot and tasted good. The prices were good. I will be back in the next time I visit Marco.

Out of town and looking to watch some football. I needed three things. Sunday ticket, food and beer. Rookies delivered on all three, but just barely. Beer selection is woeful, that is unless you like the typical Bud or Lite buckets. It is a Philly bar, so that means the only modern TV in the joint will have the Eagles on and the volume cranked to ear shattering volumes. I think they raided some landfill in China for TVs whose latest innovation were color broadcasts. The food was decent and everything was cheap. So they got that going for them, which is nice. I kept thinking about Rookies when the Eagles laid a major egg against the lowly Raiders. That's what you get for booing Santa Philly! Wah wah Eagles.

Stick with drinks and an appetizer and that might be a risk as well. The food was not good at all. In fact it was the first time I've ever considered complaining. If grease is your thing, then you'll be happy otherwise it is time time to call Gordon Ramsey.

Food was good. Customer Service & Ambience was okay. Ambience was okay. Price was fair.

Rookies is the best sports bar on the island. A locals' hangout, the bartenders are friendly and remember your name from season to season. The food isn't the best (it's bar food, after all) but the atmosphere is great, the beer is cold and there are TONS of TVs for your viewing pleasure.

The wife and I ate here on the 4th of July for lunch. There was 2 servers doing a great job taking care of a busy place. The food was good, better than bar food and not quite gourmet. The prices were pretty cheap too...a couple of drinks and sandwhiches, 25 bucks and we were out the door. So, what I'm saying is...Good food at a great price.

Good veggie burger. This is a sports bar plenty of TV's. There is also outside seating. I've brought my dog a few time. Friendly staff.

While Rookies isn't fancy, it's located in a strip mall on Collier Boulevard, my whole family has been going here for years for the consistent food and overall good service. Like many places on Marco, Rookie's has very good grouper and other seafood in a variety of styles, but they also have a pretty broad menu with pasta, salads, different chicken dishes, sandwiches, wraps, and fantastic burgers. The prices are very reasonable. You would have to look pretty hard to find something over $10 on the menu. Rookies also has a kid's menu, which I have grown to appreciate as I had my own family. It's pretty basic, but includes grilled cheese, chicken fingers and maybe PB&J as well. Finally, this is a "bar" and grill after all, Rookies does have a nice selection of beer. I can't speak to the liquor or wine menu, but this is a nice place to kick back and relax, drink a beer, and watch some sports on television. I've also hear that the Happy Hour here is quite fun and friendly, but I haven't been here to confirm it myself.

The food is great for the price. We left a seafood place 50ft away that was 2x the price for same food. They have excellent grouper and a great chef salad. Order the small chef salad because it was enough to feed two.

local Towney bar. tons of TV's to watch the games. very casual and food is expected for what it is, but it is just fine. The place has not changed in years. Could use an update to the menu and TV's
